Report on the Lecture "100 Years Since His Birth: The Life and Literature of Hiroshi Shima"

On Saturday, December 1, 2018, Mr. Tomio Tateishi held a lecture entitled "100 Years of Birth, Hiroshi Shima's Life and Literature". Thank you for visiting many customers who are also interested in literature. We would like to introduce the opinions and impressions received from our customers.

  • I was impressed by the fact that he was focusing on the trial and that he could not return to his hometown.
  • I visited the museum and learned about the lecture. I've read one or two works on the island, but I didn't know much about the origins. At the end of the lecture, I was impressed that my younger brother and sister, who wanted to live back to their hometown, could not fulfill their wishes even if the name "Hiroshi Shima" was known locally. It was good that the question and answer session was also lively.
  • When I heard Mr. Tateishi's story about "Mr. Shima," I realized again that prejudice and discrimination against Hansen's Disease I was happy to hear stories that I can't usually hear, such as why "Mr. Shima" decided to abolish the preventive law and file a lawsuit.
  • Leprosy patients are excellent poets and novelists. It is an interesting theme, what kind of desire was there in the isolated environment, and whether there was a passion for expression. Next time, I would like to have a plan about the poet.
  • It was a wonderful story. Don't stop there, please talk about Mr. Shima repeatedly.
  • I think it's very hard to live in absurdity. I had Hansen's Disease before, and this time I am glad to know about Mr. Hiroshi Shima. The origin of Mr. Hiroshi Shima's pen name is interesting.
  • I was deeply impressed. I wanted to think about writing again. Thank you very much, Mr. Tateishi.
  • It was really good to hear. Thank you for the wonderful and valuable story of the instructor. Read in the library.

Gallery Talk Event Report

A garry talk was held by the curator on Sunday, November 25th during the session. Thank you for participating in a large number of customers. We would like to introduce the opinions and impressions received from our customers.

  • It was good to see what was transmitted from the autograph manuscript. It was an exhibition that firmly conveys the very thick life of Mr. Shima in a limited space, and at the same time, it was a composition that made me want to know more about the contents that were unfolded in the "volcanic area".
  • It was very easy to see and compact, so I wanted to get to know Hiroshi Shima deeply. It was good to see the autograph manuscript. I was able to see the progress of Mr. Shima's thoughts from the traces of struggling to select words.
  • When it comes to exhibitions, there are many things on display, but this was a good exhibition where only the necessary things were shown accurately and the essence of Mr. Shima's life was quietly and simply conveyed to us. .. I also saw the original cover of the "volcanic area" and the hand-drawn colored paper as the best marks to know the inside of Mr. Shima. The selection of magazines and sentences was also accurate and the exhibition was memorable.
  • I decided to read Hiroshi Shima's work. I was deeply impressed by the power of the magazines on display.
  • The strength of Shima-san's life that comes from each letter. I wondered if the wife who supported me was a big one. I first learned about Hiroshi Shima at this exhibition, but I felt that I wanted to know more about the work. Thank you for such a valuable exhibition
