TAKASHI KITA Exhibition- Supported by Friends -

[Date]
January 31, 2009(soil)From March 1st(Day)

This exhibition will feature approximately 40 ceramic works by Kita Takashi.
Kita was born in Hyogo Prefecture in 1932 (Showa 7). He was diagnosed with Hansen's Disease at the age of 17 and entered Nagashima-Aiseien in 1959 (Showa 34) at the age of 27. Afterwards, he visited Tama Zenshoen several times for treatment, where he encountered pottery as part of rehabilitation treatment, and before he knew it, pottery went beyond the scope of functional recovery training and became a definite purpose in life. Kita is still actively involved in his work, holding exhibitions all over the country.
Overcoming despair and physical disabilities, Kita found the meaning of his life in pottery. Please take this opportunity to see these works, which are filled with the preciousness of human life.

At the same time, the gallery space in the lobby on the first floor of the old building will host an exhibition entitled "The History of Tama Zenshoen Ceramics Studio." This will feature approximately 30 pieces by people who have supported Kita and worked alongside him in the ceramics studio.
We look forward to seeing many of you there.
